district of food

Kyleen’s birthday was a few days ago so I decided to take her to the Anaheim Packing District, more specifically the Packing house. Let’s just say we were in heaven!

The Packing House is, obviously, in Anaheim and looks small on the outside, but when you walk in you are amazed. It is home to an insane amount of restaurants ranging from gourmet Japanese food at Orange Tei to delicious crepes at the Crepe Coop. The whole vibe of the House makes you feel like you’re in a garden. And of course, there are perfect opportunities to take pictures!

Kyleen, Avery, and I started out by walking all around and trying to decide what we wanted to eat first. We decided, after a long time, to eat at the Black Sheep. Nestled in the front corner, The Black Sheep is serving up some of the best grilled cheeses out there. Their top sellers include “the number 1,” which is a grilled cheese packed with goat cheese, caramelized onions, tomatoes and arugula pesto, and “the number 8,” a sandwich with swiss, porchetta, harissa garlic aioli, balsamic onion jam. I ordered the number 8, Kyleen got the Kid’s grilled cheese, and Avery ordered the number 1. I have had many grilled cheeses in my life and this one definitely makes the top 5. I suggest if you don’t like onions to ask for the sandwich with out them because there was a lot of onions!

Our next stop was Mini Monster. Mini Monster is a smaller version of my favorite desert place, Snow Monster. Snow Monster, located in Irvine by UCI, puts a unique twist on ice cream. With many options, they are known for their macaroon ice cream sandwiches and ice cream wrapped in cotton candy. Oh, and their spoons that change color! Mini Monster, however, is serving up their specialty drinks. Served in their cute jars, you can order many different types of milk tea or lemonade and add extras such as boba and cotton candy. Kyleen and I shared the almond milk thai tea with boba, cotton candy, and fruity pebbles. This combo is know as the rainbow. It sounds like a lot of sweetness and maybe just too much going on, but it is a delicious combo. The fruity pebbles in the tea is something you would never think of doing, but it is on of the best drinks I have ever had. Take a risk!

We then walked over to one of the restaurants the Packing District is known for; Popbar. Popbar is like the Chipotle for ice cream. First you pick out your pop flavor, then what you want it to be dipped in (type of chocolate), and then your toppings. I selected their best selling flavor, which is strawberry, and got it dipped in dark chocolate with almonds. Kyleen ordered the hazelnut pop with milk chocolate and coconut and Avery ordered the star berry pop with dark and white chocolate and almonds. SO GOOD!!! The pops are very photogenic, but also taste amazing so it’s a win win.

For this event I wore my black and white striped pants and a white tank top, both from Brandy Melville. My shoes are Adidas and my purse is Kate Spade. Kyleen is wearing shorts and a top from Brandy as well. All I know about Avery’s outfit is that her shorts are from Free People!

After all of our eating we walked around, swung on the hanging benches, slept outside on the couches, took some more pictures, and went to dance! It was a quick adventure but I could probably spend a week in there.

THANK YOU and I hope I see you at the packing district soon ! (If you saw me and and Kyleen dancing on the platform please let me know HA)

PS: Since Avery and I eat at a new place everyday, but it’s not enough to blog about, we started a foodstagram! Give us a follow: @camilleandaveryeat
