LACMA Adventures

So yesterday a couple of friends and I ventured to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, better known as the LACMA. Located on Wilshire Blvd, the LACMA has art for everyone. The special exhibit right now is the Rain Room, however it is sold out till January. My favorite exhibits were the Art of the Americas Building and the Modern Art exhibit in the Ahmanson Building. And if you’re really into Hotline Bling like me, you will LOVE  Breathing Light by James Turrell. It’s perceptional art, so the idea of this room is to completely disregard the viewer’s depth perception. We took forever just trying to find the walls…

We ate at the Cafe at the LACMA and I highly recommend you do the same. There is another restaurant there called Ray’s which is a fancy, sit-down restaurant (do not be fooled by the neon sign that says snack bar, it’s actually expensive). The cafe has really good sandwiches and pastas, as well as super cool drinks like dry lavender soda. The Grove is also three minute drive away, so you can always grab something to eat there.

What We Wore:

To the LACMA, I wore a woven top from Topshop, a soft jean jacket from Nordstroms, my favorite jeans from Topshop (They make the best jeans ever and they aren’t that expensive compared to other high-end brands), and black Tom’s heels. Yes Tom’s heels. I don’t care if you hate Tom’s, you should really think about getting these shoes because they are insanely comfortable. Alli’s outfit included a white top, ripped boyfriend jeans and shoes from Topshop and a jacket from Ripcurl. Mallory wore a floral romper from Urban Outfitters, nude booties from American Eagle, and a green jacket from Abercrombie.                                      IMG_8170left: Alli right: MeIMG_8215 Mallory

What You Should Wear:

If you are planning to go all day and to all the exhibits or buildings, I suggest you pick a very comfortable, yet trendy outfit. I say trendy because everything there is trendy, the people and even the emergency stairs. I wore heels and made it through the day, but I advise you to wear comfortable ones since there is a lot of walking. Try wearing jeans, a statement top, like something different such as a woven top, a bright colored one, or something super unique, and cute shoes. Have a purse you can wear over your shoulder so you can have your hands free and take pictures easier. Photos are allowed in almost all normal exhibits with out flash, which is good because there is some awesome lighting in the interactive sculptures.

I hope this inspired you to make the drive to the LACMA, wether you want to see some amazing art or just want to take pictures.
